My love of nature, and concern for the environment, has long featured in my work; I’ve been lucky enough to see mountain gorillas in Rwanda, polar bears in Canada and lions in Kenya – as well as hummingbirds, vultures, mongooses and a myriad other fascinating creatures. I hope never to stop exploring.

However, I’m also fascinated by the plants and animals of home – and am particularly keen to heighten awareness of the role played by the traditional suburb as a wildlife habitat. I wrote this piece, along with birding expert Dominic Couzens, for ‘Birdwatching Magazine’. It’s about Hampstead Heath.

I’m passionate about trees as well – their value to wildlife and the environment, their cultural histories, and the role they play in our own lives too. I’ve written these pieces for the ‘Daily Telegraph’ – one when the Sycamore Gap tree was felled and another inspired by 2024’s ‘Tree of the Year’.
